Η Άρτεμη, η ιερή αρκούδα και η Μεγάλη Άρκτος

Γύρω από την αρκούδα και τη Μεγάλη Άρκτο έχουν πλαστεί πλήθος μύθοι και τελετουργίες που οι ρίζες τους φτάνουν ως την Παλαιολιθική Εποχή. Στην αρχαία Ελλάδα η αρκούδα συνδέθηκε με την Άρτεμη, την Καλλιστώ, τη Βραυρώνα και την Αρκαδία. Η λαϊκή παράδοση διασώζει ως σήμερα τον απόηχο πανάρχαιων εθίμων.
